Main
Street
Oskaloosa is fortunate to have been a charter member of the Iowa Department of Economic Development's Main Street program. This program utilizes the Main Street four-point approach: Organization,
Promotion, Design, and Business Improvement to provide economic development opportunities for the Oskaloosa downtown district. Through this approach
the quality of life and overall economic vitality of the entire
community is greatly enhanced.
MCARD
(Mahaska County Agricultural & Rural Development)
The MCARD program has three primary goals. MCARD helps promote the development of value-added agricultureal products in Mahaska County, provides economic development assistance to smaller, rural communities in Mahaska County, and offers professional grant-writing expertise to help bring outside dollars to fund special economic development initiatives into Mahaska County.
Commerce Committee
Dedicated to marketing Oskaloosa and Mahaska County businesses, and to hosting annual events which promote our area. In the summer of 2004, the Commerce Committee brought a new event to downtown Oskaloosa in the "Friday After Five" promotion which will continue in 2005!
SUCCESS
Center
The SUCCESS Center works to connect business and education
so students get real world experience along with classroom learning.
The SUCCESS Center program was founded to enhance the interrelationship between business and educaitonal communities in Mahaska County to benefit both young and life-long learners. The GLOBE program, an international business and trade project sponsored
by Junior Achievement and Oskaloosa High School, is one of many
connecting activities available to local students.
Mahaska FutureView
A project of the citizens of the Mahaska County Area dedicated to
planning for an enhanced quality of life, economic health and growth
for years and generations to come.
Economic Development Committee
This committee will work with the Mahaska Community Development Group and its new president Scott Feldt. This committee is a collaboration of Mahaska County citizens and business persons committed to enhancing the area's
overall economic well-being by encouraging new development, job
creation, meeting infrastructure needs, and expanding existing businesses.
