Holiday Market and Show
Penn Central Mall & the Oskaloosa Square
Event Starts at noon with a Holiday Market and a Festival of Trees Silent Auction in the Penn Central Mall. From 4-6 pm will also include gospel music, children's activities, train rides, Santa and Friends, and more. Gospel music will continue to 6:30 pm . Go to the square for the magnificent PAINTING WITH LIGHTS at 7 pm followed immediately by the Main Street Lighted Christmas Parade, "30 years of Christmas". Return to the warmth of the Mall after the parade for more gospel music (sponsored by Bank Iowa) at 8:30 pm Parade awards and tree auction results are set for 9:30 pm in the mall following the concert.

Main Street's Annual Christmas Parade: 30 years of Christmas Past, is the theme for the parade that will march through historic downtown Oskaloosa (Thursday only). Come see Santa and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer! Enjoy concessions, music, and more. Parade starts at 7:00 pm.

Merry Little Downtown Christmas

Jingle all the way downtown Saturday, December 2nd for a night of holiday fun!

On Saturday, December 2nd from 5-8 PM, break that cabin fever with a trip to downtown Oskaloosa for holiday fun and festivities. 

Visit City Square Park and get your photo taken with Santa, his reindeer, and other Christmas characters from Mahaska Drug. 

Take a carriage ride through downtown and see all the holiday happenings and beautiful Christmas decorations under the glow of Painting with Lights. (Carriage rides are free thanks to the generosity of Mahaska Drug). 

Stop in and visit downtown retailers to find unique gifts for those special people on your list. Feeling famished? Grab a bite to eat at any of the wonderful downtown restaurants!

Enjoy Christmas carols in The Alley, with cocoa, chai, and coffee for sale by Smokey Row Coffee - Oskaloosa. Wander back to the Oskaloosa Art Center and Studios for cookies, and a gallery show for Denice Peters, pastel artist, hosted by F.A.C.E of Mahaska County. More event information here: Facebook

William Penn University Musco Technology Center
Leaders Speak Series.  An annual initiative that reaches out to the community with diverse leadership based themes.  This year's them is Ignite which focuses on envouraging individuals to find and pursue their passions in life.  Speakers will be presenting in the Musco Technology Center at William Penn University at 6 pm.  All presentations are free and open to the public.

Clete Hjorth, Oskaloosa Hy-Vee store Director will be presenting "Hy-Vee: Working Towards a Sustainable Future" on Thursday, November 30th.  Hjorth has worked with Hy-Vee for 21 years and will be sharing about the company's goal of continuing their proactive approach to preserving the environment. This presentation will cover various different sustainable programs that have been implemented at the Oskaloosa store and the successes it has seen in the community.

The Mitten Tree

Saturday, December 9 from 10-11 am.  Come and listen to Jan Brett's story, The Mitten, and decorate a very special pair of mittens.  One mitten will be placed on the tree in the conservation center and the other mitten can go home with you. Donate a pair of warm mittens and bring them to this event!  All donated mittens will be given to a local charity to help keep people warm this winter. Mitten-shaped cookies will be available to decorate for a yummy treat!  This event is for all ages.  Registration deadline is Dec. 7th.  Call MCCB at (641)673-9327 to sign up.

Friday, December 29 from 1-4 pm.  Kids, get out of the house during your winter break and come out to the conservation center to have fun and learn about nature on a winter day!  Dress for the weather because having fun in winter is spending some time outdoors.  Indoor activities (including a movie and popcorn) will also be held so we can warm up our fingers and toes.  This event is for all ages.  Please preregister by calling (641)673-9327 because we have limited space.  Registration deadline is Dec. 28th.

A young princess named Snow White finds herself in peril when her stepmother, the Queen, is told be her Magic Mirror that the princess is fairer than she! Aided by her two Henchmen and a band of evil Bats, the Queen plots to get rid of Snow White. Snow White escapes with the help of Witless the Woodsman and finds a new home with the Seven Dwarfs. When the Queen learns of Snow White's whereabouts, she attempts to poison Snow White. But the Queen's evil plans are thwarted when Snow White's fearless Forest Friends, her father King Backwards, the Seven Dwarfs, and the Prince come to her rescue.

On Golden Pond is an American treasure. This tale of a single family and how they pull apart and find each other has been touching audiences for generations. Aging couple Ethel and Norman Thayer spend each summer at their home on a lake called Golden Pond, exploring their turbulent relationship with their daughter and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.

This presentation is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Iowa Arts Council and the Crane Group.

Tapping Trees for Syrup

Friday, February 16 from 9-11 am.  If you would like to help MCCB collect tree sap that will be made into maple syrup sampled at the Maple Syrup Festival, then come out to the conservation center on this morning.  After collecting sap from maple trees in the park, you can watch the next steps first-hand.  Dress for the weather and for hiking.  Pre-register by calling MCCB at (641)673-9327.
