Fishing Pond at Edmundson Park
Edmundson Park is a 60-acre park on the south side of Oskaloosa that, along with the Municipal Swimming Pool, was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937. Since it is an historic landmark, it has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The park features three ball diamonds - one for Babe Ruth league, one for a church league and one for an industrial league. It also has seven shelter houses of varying size that can be rented during the week or on the weekend. For shelter house rental inquiries, call the city houseing department at (641) 673-8361. The park also has an 18-hole disc golf course.
Since 1996, the wooden playground has been a fixture at the park. The park has several picnic areas and four restrooms. Edmundson Park also has a 1-acre pond open for fishing. People also can access the Oskaloosa Recreation Trail from the park.. There is parking for 15-20 vehicles near the trail.
Edmundson Pool
While the buildings are historic, the pool was renovated in 2005 and reopened its doors on May 26, 2006. The heated pool holds 450,000 gallons of water and measures 150 feet by 75 feet in addition to having a zero-depth area. The pool features three slides, two 1 meter diving boards, a water mushroom and a portable basketball hoop. The swimming pool has a family dressing area and lockers people can use on a daily basis. The pool also has a designated concession area for food and drinks.
The pool has lights, so it can stop open later. People can rent the pool for birthday celebrations or pool parties.
The pool is open from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m.on Sunday. It is located at 1405 S. F. Street.
